Faculty
The Faculty in the Department of English belongs to the three disciplines:
- Linguistics
- Translation
- Literature
Each of these disciplines is represented in the curriculum. There are a number of courses belonging to these disciplines. The faculty are trained, experienced and qualified in each of these disciplines. Their contribution is not only in teaching the courses in these disciplines, but they also publish research in these streams.
Professional Development of Faculty
- At Institutional Level
Numerous in-service training sessions, seminars and workshops are conducted for teaching staff to equip them with academic and professional practices needed for professional development.
- At Program level
- All faculty members share departmental committees formed for their professional improvement in all academic areas such as teaching and learning, research, publishing, and technology.
- Apart from Departmental meetings, Course Coordinators’ meetings are held at least twice a year to discuss the syllabus plan, assessment methods, and teaching strategies
- Workshops are conducted frequently throughout the academic year on emerging teaching and learning strategies by the faculty members who are expert in their respective fields.
- Scientific Research committee organizes seminars to share the research in progress and completed of the department faculty members.
- The Deanship of Science and Research (DSR) offers grants for research and innovation in teaching and learning.
- Faculty members are encouraged to attend conferences, workshops to refresh and enhance their knowledge.
