Content & Description:
This course is designed to acquaint the students of level three with an introduction to the Greek and Roman Literatures and their influence on the English Literature. Besides, it provides the students with the characteristics of poetry, play, novel, novella and short story. It will attract the attention of the students to the different rhetorical meanings. Also, it will present them the common characteristics of Literature such as character, style, plot, effects, and idea. It provides them with many different literary terms. Again, it gives the characteristics and common elements of Drama.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: By the end of this course,
- Students are introduced to the definition of Literature.
- Students are introduced to the basic elements of the different literary genres.
- Students are know the differences between the different branches of literature.
- Students are able to appreciate a poem, understand a novel and a play.
- Students are able to write simple critical appreciations of a poem, a novel and a play.
