About the English Department
The Department of English at College of Science and Humanities, offers 4-year BA program in English language and literature and one 2-year MA program in Applied Linguistics. The Department caters to the students’ needs of advanced language, translation, literature and communication skills. The department of English also fulfills the needs of other affiliated colleges in Engineering, Medical, Applied Medical Sciences, Business Administration, Computer Sciences, and Pharmacy by teaching English language courses. Language skills are essential not only for teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) but also in meeting the labor market demands. In order to fulfill the Kingdom’s 2030 vision objectives and open new avenues of career opportunities, the Department of English has recently modified its BA study program and have added a new variety of courses on language, translation and literature. This will encourage our graduates to take up careers like teaching English at schools, professional (freelancing) English translation and interpretation, and English language-using industries, such as journalism, advertising, administration, marketing, business and so forth. Our faculty members are well qualified and are known for their professional excellence. They possess extraordinary skills and show comprehensive dedication to teach at all levels, enhancing students’ critical thinking skills and imaginative capabilities. They are providing teaching services, by using research-based interactive and communicative teaching techniques.
