Field Training
The BA program of the Department of English requires all students to undergo a Field Training after the 7th semester for a period of 210 training hours over seven (7) weeks.

- Level/year at which this course is offered: Level 7/Year 4
- Dates and times allocation of field experience activities.
- Number of weeks: (7) weeks
- Number of days: 5 days a week/ 6 hours a day
- Number of hours: 210 training hours

The field training gives them an opportunity to recognize the reality of the labor market and develop necessary skills beforehand for effective interaction with the work environment. The practical exposure of the industry location allows them the opportunity to hone their critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills. They are also able to recognize the challenges in fields such as education, public and private enterprises, interpersonal relations and office management.
Suggested Field Experience Locations
- Language Learning Institutes and Institutes of Training
- Libraries/ Publishing houses/ Newspapers e.g., Arab News
- Technical (telecom, electronic, computer, banking) organizations e.g. STC, Alrajhi,
- Office for religious Propagation, Translation services, Guidance and Community Awareness
- Training sections of Dairy and Food industry (e.g. Almarai, Alsafi, etc.)
- Governmental Departments like Chamber of Commerce and Industry, etc.
- Hospitals/ Poly clinics (Reception/ arbitration, translation training)

Graduation Project
Each student is required to complete a graduation project in the last semester carrying 3 credits. Students are required to work in teams of 3 to 5 students on a specific subject/ topic. Prior to working on the graduation project, a student must pass its pre-requisite course ‘Research Methods’ (ENG4180). The pre-requisite course helps students develop a strong foundation for carrying out research. A graduation project is carried out under the direction and supervision of a supervisor who is a senior faculty member of the department. Students are encouraged to suggest their own topics for the graduation project in Linguistics, Literature and Translation disciplines. All the topics must be approved at the Department council.

- Aiding other colleges, e.g. Colleges of Education and Computer Science, in conducting joint research and workshops.
1. Program Mission:
|
To prepare qualified postgraduates with in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in linguistics, enabling them to pursue doctoral studies, conduct academic research, cater to the needs of the job market, and serve the community.
|
2. Program Goals:
|
