Bachelor's and Master's Programs
BA Program
The English Language and Literature program offered by the department is considered to be one of the important programs in the process of preparing English language graduates, as the responsibility has become greater to face the challenges and developments of the times. The graduate student no longer depends only on studying curricula and courses decided by departments and colleges, but has actually become an integral part of society and an active member in it who can find several sources for practicing the language. Accordingly, the Department of English Language and Literature is a permanent source for providing the scientific and research services necessary to graduate skilled generations capable of meeting the needs, the requirements of the Saudi labor market, achieving the required quality in community service, and achieving academic accreditation. The student can apply for the bachelor’s program in the Department of English Language and Literature after fulfilling the requirements determined by the Deanship of Admission and Registration at the university. Note that there is no preparatory year for this program, as the student can apply directly through the university’s electronic academic system (electronic registration) hosted by Deanship of Admission and Registration.
The BA degree in English Language and Literature at our College is important in many ways:
- Preparing professionally and academically trained graduates in all fields including teaching, translation, tourism and so forth.
- Opening up channels of academic communication with all the institutions concerned regionally, locally and globally.
- Enhancing students' English language and research skills both quantitatively and qualitatively.
- Developing students' critical thinking and speaking skills so that they become able to communicate effectively with whoever is concerned with the English language, translation and literature.
- Instilling in students an overwhelming desire for community service via English as a foreign language.
