Establishment of the College
The College of Sciences and Humanities in Al-Kharj Governorate was established by virtue of the generous Royal Approval No. 10363/MB dated 22/8/1426 AH, based on the decision of the Higher Education Council No. 8/38/1426 AH in its thirty-eighth session held on 5/26/1426 AH, the judge approving the Establishment of the College of Science in Al-Kharj Governorate affiliated to King Saud University. Studying began in 1427 AH, as it included four departments: the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Physics, the Department of Medical Laboratories, and the Department of Computer Science. The Department of Medical Laboratories joined the College of Applied Medical Sciences in the governorate, when the study began in 1428 AH, bringing the number of departments in the college to three departments only:
In the year 1429 AH, the Royal Approval No. 5151 / MB was issued on 3/7/1429 AH, based on the decision of the Council of Higher Education No. 8/48/1428 in its forty-eighth session held on 12/27/1428 AH, which approved the change of the name of the College of Science to College of Sciences and Humanities, so that the college includes the following departments:
• Department of Mathematics
• Department of Physics
• Department of Chemistry
• Department of Biology
• Department of English
In addition to the general preparation unit, and the Department of Computer Science joined the College of Engineering and Computer Science in the governorate. The college was joined to Al-Kharj University in the middle of the first semester of the academic year 1430/1431 AH, after the issuance of a generous royal decree No. 7305/MB dated 3/9/1430 AH establishing the University of Al-Kharj and transforming all colleges in the southern governorates of Riyadh into an independent university. Under the name of Al-Kharj University.
Finally, the Council of Al-Kharj University, in its fourth session on 6/10/1431 AH, recommended restructuring the girls' colleges and transferring and joining the physics and mathematics departments in the College of Education for Girls, the scientific departments, as well as the English language department in the College of Education for Girls, the literary departments, into the College of Science and Human Studies, with the opening of the Department of Special Education for Girls. In which I started studying at the beginning of the academic year 1431/1432 AH, to be this department are a nucleus for graduating female researchers who contribute to the advancement and progress of the country. The college has made a commendable effort to keep pace with the comprehensive renaissance of the country in various scientific fields. The development of the college was not only a numerical development, but in addition to that it was an original scientific development, taking into account that it was in line with the scientific progress in the basic sciences, and accordingly, the capabilities available to the faculty member and the student increased, and the number of faculty members, employees and students in the college increased significantly. Also, the number of laboratories has increased significantly, and the college also hosts university central laboratories.
